Fiberglass
Small amounts of fiberglass insulation can be bagged and disposed of with regular household waste.
Fire Extinguisher
Fire extinguishers contain hazardous substances and proper disposal is required.

Fluorescent Light

Food Waste
Food waste can be disposed of with your regular garbage. For food composting information, see the Composting page of the Green Action Centre website.
Fridge and freezer
Fridge (refrigerator) and freezer can be recycled through a number of options. If the appliance is in good condition and less than 7 years old, you may be able to donate it to Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. Please call (204) 233-5160 to find out what appliances are accepted as donations.
Fridge/freezer may also be recycled through the pick up program for bulky household appliances run by the City of Winnipeg. Call 311 or visit this link to learn more about the services provided by the City. You may take bulky waste directly to Brady Road Landfill for disposal. There is a fee per vehicle.
If your fridge is at least 15 years old, in working condition, and approximately 10 cubic feet or larger, you can take advantage of the Power Smart Refrigerator Retirement Program of Manitoba Hydro. To confirm your eligibility and schedule a pickup, please call 1-855-5FRIDGE (1-855-537-4343) or visit Manitoba Hydro program page here. As well, eligible owners get $50 cash back per appliance.
This program may accept an eligible freezer if a fridge is also retired at the same time.
