School Gardens Program

Garden Description:  School gardens must be accessible to the entire school, but need not be used for educational purposes.

Incentive Payments:  The School Garden Program will support schools with a one-time payment of $500.00 to establish school gardens at K-12 schools across Canada.

Hub Support:  Green Manitoba, as Manitoba Hub, will manage the Manitoba Prorgam on behalf of Nutrients for Life Canada.

Teacher Training:  Educational Coordinators are available in each jurisdiction to provide pedagogical assistance and conduct professional development workshops.

Lesson Plans:  NFL School Garden schools are not required to use the gardens for formal curriculum linked activities. However, they may use resources for teachers and students that are available on the NFL website (www.nutrientsforlife.ca) if they wish.  Green Manitoba also provides sample lessons in their Guide to Educators in Canada, which is available here.
